Are you a WOMAN OVER 50 who wants to feel YOUNGER?

I Will Help You Do What You LOVE, NEED and WANT to Do – Despite Midlife Challenges!

Personal Training

Aging brings challenges but losing function does not have to be one of them!

Health clubs have advantages, but they can be intimidating, and their trainers may not have expertise in older clients, ESPECIALLY post-menopausal women.

Get a safe, targeted, and effective program with one-on-one training in your own home or gym so you can stay active and adventurous for years to come!

Nutrition Coaching

You still want peak experiences, travel, hobbies and intimacy! The problem, though, is that nutrition can seem so confusing. It's easy to give up trying to figure it out and default to what’s convenient rather than healthy.

Get the personal guidance and accountability that brings you the weight loss, mental clarity, and energy that are critical to you looking and feeling your best right now!

HOW ARE YOU MOVING?

With a set of validated assessments, you’ll get an accurate picture of your dynamic and static balance, musculoskeletal strength, cardiovascular fitness, neuromuscular coordination, and cognitive processing capabilities. You’ll know what areas deserve a little more attention, and where you shine!

HOW CAN YOU MOVE BETTER?

You’ll get a personalized plan addressing the six domains of function crucial to your best performance – cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, mobility, cognitive/emotional and balance – though not all at once! We’ll emphasize what you need the most right now.

HOW'S YOUR NUTRITION?

Let’s get a snapshot of your habits and things you really enjoy, then together create a strategy that works to increase your daily health and happiness. Real nutrition feels good and looks good on you. I just have one rule: NO crazy “beach body” fad diets are allowed!

WHAT WILL HELP YOU MAKE WISER CHOICES?

Your individual biology, psychology and social influences will inform your ultimate strategy. We’ll break down potential obstacles, uproot hidden beliefs and work one day at a time to create healthier routines.

What can a specialized nutrition coach and trainer do for you?

Imagine having a trained professional who understands your movement and body composition goals, your physical limitations (including injury and/or chronic disease), your dietary preferences, and your internal dialogue helping you stay the course and reach your goals. My job is to understand you, strategize with you, then kindly and compassionately hold your feet to the fire!

Who would benefit most from focused 1-on-1 attention?

Personalized exercise and/or nutrition coaching is for you if you are over 50 and know you want your future years to be full of as much health, energy, and joy with loved ones as possible. You may have had some setbacks over the years, but you want to take advantage of the opportunities life affords you and not be held back by your health!

What is The Process Like?

Each client is unique, but the coaching process follows an effective, proven pattern.

1. Identify your vision.

The first thing we’ll do is talk about your vision for yourself. How do you want to feel? What do you want to do? What do you wish for in your ideal future?

2. Assess your status.

Once we set a vision, we’ll use standardized methods to assess where you are now. These can be physical assessments or logs of exercise and nutritional intake over a few representative days. These will include any illness or injury limitations you currently manage.

3. Create a course of action.

With that knowledge in hand, we’ll agree upon a course of action you feel confident you can stick to for the immediate future. No heroic efforts are needed, we work in the zone where you can manage without too much stress.

4. Implement the plan.

With personal training, we’ll typically meet 2-3 times per week for your exercise session, but can customize to what works for you. With nutrition coaching, we typically meet once per week, usually online, to talk about how you’re doing with the plan, review what you like and what you want to change, check your progress, and make adjustments for greater success.

4. Periodically reassess and adjust.

With personal training, we re-assess physical capabilities every 1-2 months and adjust the program as needed. With nutrition, the weekly meetings serve to check progress and tweak as we go.

About Me

Baby Boomers have redefined what it means to get older… we want to keep having fun! I love this attitude, and work with clients over 50 so they can regain lost vitality and defy what society thinks older adults should look like and how they should act. We’re not old, we’re in a new phase of adventure!

I’m more educated than a typical trainer. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine from San Diego State University and completed pre-medical coursework at Stanford University. I worked in sports teams’ training rooms, a sports medicine clinic, and then in clinical research for cardiovascular medical devices before returning to my athletic training roots.

Because of my degree, I was able to earn the American College of Sports Medicine trainer certification only available to those with an exercise science degree. I am a certified Functional Aging Specialist through the Functional Aging Institute, a certification that specifically addresses the needs of older adults. I work the spectrum: from healthy, active agers to those who suffer from chronic cardiovascular or metabolic conditions.

I’m also a Certified Nutrition Coach through Precision Nutrition, the largest and most respected nutrition coaching organization in the world. Rather than prescribing meal plans, I help you create the positive change you can sustain. You can lose weight, reduce your risk of chronic disease, and feel years younger!

Testimonials

“I write this with the deepest gratitude, for my recent trial in confidence and lifestyle training. Confidence in realizing I really can change my attitude in losing weight…”

– Peggy Ruelke

Maureen’s guidance was so different from what I usually do.

The first day was tough – all that protein! However, I started to lose weight immediately. It seemed to start melting off. I couldn’t believe how fast it happened! That kept me “honest” – sticking to it with just minor blunders…”

– Jen Caulfield
